Unsaleables 101: A Pre-conference Workshop
Designed for individuals new to unsalables management, this session, delivered by a panel of industry experts, will build a foundational understanding of reverse logistics based on an overview of studies and trends. A review of accepted practice and metrics, and an introduction to tools to give you a jump start in reducing the cost of unsalables in your company will be presented as well. Managing Unsaleables in an "Open-Coded" World - Gary Piwko, Director, Remarketing & Returns Management, Kellogg USA; and George Thrower, Reclamation Coordinator, Harris Teeter, Inc - Over the past few years there has been a major "re-labeling" by CPG manufacturers to provide open-code dated products. Some of the impetus is retailer generated. This session will explore the impacts that this change has had on industry rates of unsaleables from the retailer and manufacturer perspectives.

Professor of Marketing and Logistics, University of South Florida, College of Business Administration. Unsaleables
management has cost, revenue and customer service implications. Drawing on lessons learned in a variety of industries,
Professor Stock will briefly examine the product returns process, concentrating on cost issues related to unsaleables,
improving revenue by minimizing unsaleables and/or increasing recovery value of product returns, and examining customer
service aspects of unsaleables. Some potential strategies for reducing unsaleables will be presented. Be sure to stop
