Food Labeling Workshop: Complying with Regulatory Requirements for the Labeling of Packaged Foods

Kimberly Wingfield,
Director, Science Policy, Labeling and Standards

Ms. Wingfield interacts extensively with GMA members to provide assistance with food labeling inquiries on FDA and USDA regulated products. She joined GMA in November of 2012. Prior to GMA, Ms. Wingfield held various positions in regulatory affairs and compliance in the food industry amounting to over ten years of experience.

Ms. Wingfield received her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University and MBA from Emory University.
 

Robert (Robbie) Burns, Ph.D.,
Vice President, Health and Nutrition Policy
Grocery Manufacturers Association

Dr. Burns oversees the development of positions on health and nutrition labeling at GMA.  Prior to joining GMA in 2011, he held nutrition leadership roles in Cadbury Schweppes and Mead Johnson Nutritionals. In both organizations, he worked with cross-functional business teams and external stakeholders to leverage nutrition science and deliver business objectives.  He has extensive knowledge of nutrition, health, public policy and food regulations, and the ability to use this knowledge to drive changes which positively impact human health and nutrition.

Dr. Burns has a Ph.D. in Nutritional Biochemistry and a B.S. in Biochemistry, both from Queen’s University, Belfast, Northern Ireland.  Subsequent to his graduate studies, he conducted postdoctoral research fellowships at Nottingham University, U.K., and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.


Kristen Scott, M.S., RD, CLS,
Director, Health and Nutrition Policy
Grocery Manufacturers Association

Ms. Scott assists with the development and implementation of GMA’s positions on health and nutrition policy.  She joined GMA in March of 2013.  Prior to GMA, Ms. Scott worked as a Registered Dietitian in a variety of settings most recently working as a Public Health Nutritionist at the Ohio Department of Health. 

Ms. Scott received her B.S in Nutrition and Dietetics from Saint Louis University and M.S. in Clinical Nutrition from The Ohio State University.


Sabrina Correll, M.S., CAPM
Manager, Health and Nutrition Policy

Ms. Correll assists in the development of positions on health and nutrition at GMA.    She joined GMA in September 2013.  Prior to GMA, Ms. Correll participated in economic research at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and sustainable agriculture research at the University of Maine. 

Ms. Correll received her B.A. from Colby College and M.S. in Agriculture, Food, and Environment from Tufts University. 


Arnetta Fletcher, PhD, RDN, LDN
Fellow, Labeling and Standards
Grocery Manufacturers Association

Dr. Arnetta Fletcher, RDN works as a Fellow of Science Policy for Labeling and Standards. She is involved in work streams on the Nutrition Label Reform, Facts Up Front, and the Nutrition Label Education Consortium. Prior to joining GMA in May 2016, Arnetta worked at the National Institutes of Health’s Clinical Center, presented positions on state nutrition and diet regulations and other legislative issues, as well as conducted research in diet, genomics, and immunology at the United States Department of Agriculture.

Dr. Fletcher earned her Ph.D. degree in Nutrition and Food Science from University of Maryland, College Park and a B.S. degree in Dietetics, Concentration in Pediatrics from the University of Delaware. She is also a licensed, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
