The food industry is heavily regulated at the federal, state and local levels of government due to its inherent complexity and immediate impact on the consumers of food products. Recent foodborne disease outbreaks attributed to processed foods have led to a renewed focus on the importance of food safety systems across the industry. Regulatory agencies are emphasizing the review of scientific information in the development of these food safety systems and have incorporated these principles into regulations and guidance for industry.

GMA’s Thermal Processing Professional Training (TPPT) Program focuses on development of thermal processes and resolution of deviations encountered during the processing of food products and is aligned with the appropriate regulatory standards. It is crucial that processors be in alignment with current regulatory requirements and practice the most current science-based methods in the development of successful food safety systems in their facilities.

GMA’s 2-part live webinar “Regulations & Laws for the Food Processor” will address the predominant regulations for safe and appropriately labeled food products with the following areas of focus:

  • Food Law in the United States
  • Food Labeling
  • HACCP
  • FDA Regulations Important to the Thermal Processor
  • FSIS Inspections and Regulatory Expectations for Thermal Processing
