GMA UpStream

What is GMA UpStream?

GMA UpStream is a pilot membership program designed to recruit and drive new levels of participation and engagement from industry suppliers in manufacturing and engineering services to provide model industry practices to GMA member companies by:
  • Linking their manufacturing, engineering and product development managers with select solutions providers;
  • Solving persistent manufacturing challenges with today's latest technology;
  • Including GMA's recently launched Manufacturing Share Group and GMA's science program as active participants in the rollout; and
  • Providing any necessary strategic counsel and direction from the Associate Membership Council.
Who is the target audience?

The target audience consists of both:
  • Manufacturing, engineering, procurement , plant operations and product development personnel from the food and CPG industry; and
  • A select group of UpStream Associate Members that provide solutions in manufacturing operations for food safety, materials, operations/infrastructure, manufacturing systems, technical services and technology.
What is the structure?

GMA will launch two new engagement platforms called the Solutions Center for Excellence initially and follow at a later date with the Learning Center for Excellence:
  • Solutions Center for Excellence: laser focused, small group (or specific member customized group), collaborative and customized problem solving meetings; dedicated to bringing together technical experts at the operations level to properly characterize a manufacturing problem anywhere in the production cycle and identify appropriate technology providers to achieve a solution, e.g. continuous flow production batch lotting; and
  • Learning Center for Excellence: peer networking, share groups and conferences in both face-to- face and virtual models;
What are the goals of GMA UpStream?

The primary goals are to:
  • Increase the depth of communication and engagement with member manufacturers at the corporate and plant level;
  • Expand the value proposition of GMA's food safety and other upstream initiatives between manufacturer and associate members that specialize in technology solutions;
  • Inform and align industry problem solving in manufacturing, engineering, and plant management;
  • Provide increased opportunities for executive level networking on emerging issues; and
  • Create new supplier engagement upstream from the GMA manufacturers.
