Science and Regulatory Affairs Council
The Science and Regulatory Affairs Council (SRAC) advances the goals of industry using sound scientific principles to enable industry to provide high quality, healthful and safe products to the public. The Council provides strategic leadership by identifying emerging industry-wide trends with product safety, regulatory and/or legislative implications; providing a forum for science and regulatory leaders from GMA member companies to discuss issues affecting the industry and its ability to provide high quality, healthful and safe products to the public; and providing a forum for benchmarking, developing industry guidance and sharing model practices. It is one of three GMA councils that reports to the associationís board of directors.
The Council specifically advises the Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Department in discharging responsibilities as they relate to addressing:
- scientific and regulatory issues related to achieving the priorities and objectives identified by the GMA Board of Directors and
- specific and technically complex scientific or regulatory issues impacting the industry which emerge and need immediate resolution.
