Thermal Processing Professional Training Program - 2014

The Grocery Manufacturers Association’s Thermal Processing Professional Training (TPPT) Program is an intensive two-week program designed to teach thermal processing professionals the most current science-based techniques to be applied in the development of optimal thermal processes and the mitigation of thermal process deviations.

GMA’s TPPT Program teaches professionals working towards becoming a recognized Process Authority not only the “whats” and “whens” of food processing, but also “why” specific steps used in the development process are so critical. This focus sets GMA’s TPPT Program apart from other training programs.

Why TPPT? Why Now? Why GMA?

Recent foodborne disease outbreaks attributed to processed foods have led to a renewed focus on the importance of understanding the science behind processing and the key role process authorities play in the food safety system. Regulatory agencies are also emphasizing the review of thermal process filings and re-evaluating the application of traditionally conservative thermal food processes.

While the Better Process Control School Program is mandated within current regulations, the process development and analysis materials covered in the BPCS program are not sufficient for the thermal processing professional.

GMA’s TPPT Program focuses on development of thermal processes and resolution of deviations encountered during the processing of food products and is aligned with the appropriate regulatory standards. It is crucial that processors understand and practice the most current science-based methods in the development of thermal food processes and GMA will make sure you are up-to-speed on the latest processing advancements in the field.
