About the Speakers:


Lisa Lucore is a Food Safety Scientist for The Kellogg Company supporting implementation of corporate programs and policies within supply chain. Dr. Lucore has spent 15 years in various positions in quality, food safety and product development roles spanning products that have included vegetable, fruit, and confectionary snacks; pasteurized fluids, meat products and cereals. Dr. Lucore is a graduate of The Ohio State University and received her M.S. in Poultry Science, and Ph.D. in Food Science, from North Carolina State University.

  Bala Kottapalli is a Principal Microbiologist at ConAgra Foods, Inc. in the Enterprise Microbiology Division, providing microbiological support for Snacks (pretzels, pita chips, cereal bars, pudding, popcorn, and sunflower seeds) operations. Prior to joining ConAgra Foods, Dr. Kottapalli worked as a Senior Scientist at Kraft Foods in the Food Safety & Microbiology Division from December 2008-April 2012.  During his term at Kraft Foods he provided microbiological support for Biscuit operations as well as working as Microbiologist/Lab Manager at the Institute for Environmental Health, Inc. (IEH), Seattle, Washington for 4 years. He obtained his Ph.D. in ­Food Safety and M.S. in Cereal Science, as well as a minor in Statistics from North Dakota State University, Fargo, North Dakota. He obtained his B.S. degree in Dairy Technology from Osmania University, India.
