Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR) is a system that enables GMA members and other consumer packaged goods companies to work together, seamlessly linking the industry from manufacturer to consumer and illustrating the entire supply chain from one end to the other. Some of CPFR’s predecessors include electronic data interchange (EDI), vendor-managed inventory (VMI) and efficient consumer response (ECR).
The knowledge collected and shared through CPFR sheds light on consumer patterns and preferences, allowing GMA members to tailor products and services to meet their customers’ specific needs. GMA members utilize this information to forecast, plan for seasonal activities and design promotional strategies.
Today, CPFR is being practiced on various levels by many of GMA's member companies and has re-emerged under New Ways of Working Together.
