GRAS Code of Practice

Members of the Grocery Manufacturing Association (GMA) and other industry participants are committed to ensuring the safety of the food people eat and ensuring responsible business practices in innovation of new products. Industry participants listed below have pledged to follow GMA's Code of Practice in determining that the use of an ingredient is "generally recognized as safe" or GRAS. These participants will follow a Publicly Available Specification for conducting GRAS self-determinations which is being established, enhance the transparency of the GRAS process to both the FDA and the public through participation in a publicly accessible database, and minimize perceived concerns about conflicts of interest.
