JICC Calls for Industry Comment on Retirement of Coupon Barcodes

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Joint Industry Coupon Committee (JICC) today issued a call for industry comments on its intent to initiate the GS1 Global Standards Management Process (GSMP) to retire the use of the GS1 UPC Prefix 5 and GS1/EAN Prefix 99 barcode symbols on all coupons issued in North America by June 30, 2015. The JICC will accept comments on its intention until June 16, 2014.

Food Industry Alliance Publishes Toolkit for Reducing Food Waste

Today an alliance of food manufacturers, retailers and foodservice operators announced the release of a toolkit to help businesses in the food sector reduce the amount of food waste sent to landfill.  The Best Practices and Emerging Solutions Toolkit was produced by the Food Waste Reduction Alliance (FWRA), a cross-sector industry initiative led by the Food Marketing Institute (FMI), the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) and the National Restaurant Association (NRA).
