(Washington, DC) – Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) President and CEO Pamela G. Bailey today announced the selection of Michael Eisner, former Walt Disney Company CEO and entertainment business veteran to deliver the annual Chairman’s Lecture at the GMA Executive Conference on August 21, 2011 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
“Michael Eisner has earned a place among the all-time leading innovators in the entertainment industry,” said Ms. Bailey. “With his extensive knowledge and experience of successful business partnerships, Eisner will provide unique insight into what it takes for a company to continue to compete in a changing global marketplace.”
Michael Eisner has been a leader in the entertainment industry for nearly 40 years. Under his leadership, Walt Disney Company revenues grew from $1.7 billion to more than $30 billion by focusing on the power of ideas, pursuing the innovative vision, and taking creative risks. He has overseen organizations recognized for their inventiveness and innovation, experienced an explosion of technological advances that have impacted his business and led his companies through the advent of the next big ideas.
In the Chairman’s Lecture, Eisner will share his insights on what it takes to run a company that must always grow and change in order to successfully compete in the marketplace. He will take an inside look at some of the most famously successful and rewarding business partnerships and what makes them tick, using examples of his own successful collaboration with Frank Wells at Disney. Sharing behind-the-scenes stories and insights from his in depth interviews with these partners, Eisner will address what works in business and what doesn’t.
“Eisner’s selection as the Chairman’s Lecture speaker provides a valuable opportunity for conference attendees to gain relevant business and leadership insight from an established peer that brings a fresh perspective from an equally challenging industry,” noted Bailey.
