WASHINGTON, D.C. – Louis Finkel, executive vice president of government affairs for the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA), announced the appointment of Kelsey Johnson as director of state affairs.
“I am pleased that Kelsey Johnson has joined the GMA Government Affairs staff,” said Finkel. “Her leadership and expertise in driving public policy initiatives will be a valuable asset as we seek responsible public policy solutions at all levels of government on behalf of the food, beverage and consumer products industry.”
Johnson’s experience includes more than five years in the business sector and three years as a former staffer in the offices of the Minnesota House, Senate and Attorney General. In 2012, she effectively managed a state senate campaign that was not favored to win but ultimately did. Johnson joins GMA from Hill Capitol Strategies where she successfully represented more than 20 clients, including corporations, coalitions, non-profits, trade and governmental associations, on a variety of issue areas.
Johnson said, “By joining the GMA Government Affairs team, I plan to contribute to the association’s already strong reputation as an effective advocacy organization and look forward to educating policymakers in states and communities around the country about issues that impact the food, beverage and consumer products industry.”
Johnson reports to Mandy Hagan, GMA’s vice president of state affairs, and is responsible for GMA’s state advocacy activities in the Midwest and Southern regions of the United States on behalf of GMA member companies.
