At the 2012 FMI Mid-Winter Executive Conference in January, GMA announced planned changes to conferences and meetings in 2013.
GMA, in consultation with FMI, developed a proposal for the consolidation of GMA executive meetings consistent with the TPA mandate to “promote joint industry collaboration, simplification and elimination of duplication”.
The result of this proposal was the creation of the GMA Executive Leadership Series.
This series of meetings will sharpen the focus across each of GMA’s strategic areas of focus and broaden opportunities for collaboration and association engagement.
The flagship event of the Leadership Series will be the co-location of the GMA Hall of Achievement Award and Chairman’s Lecture with the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) Mid-Winter Executive Conference in January 2013.
GMA will produce three additional targeted meetings throughout the year with clear dedication and focus on government affairs, science and regulatory affairs and industry affairs, creating an annual portfolio of specialized events.
The three specialized events will go as follows:
April/May – GMA will continue to hold the annual Science Forum which will be dedicated to science and regulatory industry issues and will target attendees in the fields of chief science officers, research and development, quality assurance and control and our Chairman’s Advisory Council.
July – The May GMA Board meeting in Washington will be moved to July, coinciding with the half-day CEO Leadership Forum featuring multi-channel retailer CEOs. A large industry dinner with political guests would precede an industry-wide fly-in on Capitol Hill. Simultaneous with the CEO Forum, GMA Government Affairs would host sessions with a focus on public policy issues and educational opportunities for non-CEO executives.
October – GMA Industry Affairs and Collaboration will host an event with FMI focusing on industry challenges facing chief customer officers, chief marketing officers, supply chain executives and customer business teams.
