In May of 2012, GMA brought Cornell University and Shanghai Jiaotong University (SJTU) together to partner in food safety education in China. Working towards establishing a joint academic program to address food safety challenges in the APEC region, Cornell, SJTU and GMA began exploring the feasibility of developing a specific curriculum in supply chain food safety that would include academic certification programs and state of the art training.
“We look forward to bringing GMA’s vast expertise and experience in food safety to this effort and we are honored to be working with these renowned universities on this common mission to strengthen the safety of our food supply chain,” said GMA president and CEO.
GMA serves as a key advisor to both Cornell and SJTU, providing advice, counsel and private sector perspective to these universities.
As a result, a food safety dual degree program is being launched in China this year.
